- Notes
- With the death of Vollard in 1939 and the outbreak of the Second World War, the printing run remained in the publisher's apartment for several years. Some time between 1942 and 1945 the renowned dealer Henri Petiet acquired the series yet it was not until the mid 1950's that Petiet began to send Picasso batches of between one and two hundred etchings for the artist to sign. There is no record of how many etchings were signed by Picasso but it is known that in the 1960's, when he began to work on his Suite 347, there were still many etchings that had not been signed.
The etching in our possession was signed by Picasso.
